How Much Should You Prepare For A Wildfire?

Inspiration

After all the wildfires going around, we really wanted people to know how prepared to be. Millions of have died because they didn't know because they weren't prepared. With our app/website, they will be prepared.

What it does

Given your current location, it uses multiple APIs and databases to find all the data for your area. Then our backend uses a neural network model that we built to calculate the chance and severity of a wildfire happening in their area, then tells you so that you know how prepared you have to be for a wildfire.

How we built it

To build this, eatsleepeat and Abdi built the front end model. Unfortunately, after our neural network model and backend was finished, someone took it and left our group to start his own. More on that in the challenges tab.

Challenges we ran into

eatsleepeat and Abdi finished the front end with no problem. However, we had to help a lot with the neural network and backend, and after it was finished, the 2 backend partners we had just ditched us, and as they had ownership of the code, they took the neural network with them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of our idea, and could flesh it out fully between the 2 of us given more time. We would've finished in the time limit if not for the 2 people that ditched us and took half of our code (our backend). However, we are proud of mostly finishing our frontend.

What we learned

I learned that you have to pick and choose teammates wisely. This will be very important in the hackathons to come. We also learned a lot about backend, as we usually specialize in frontend but had to help a lot in the backend.

What's next for ...

We would finish the backend and fully flesh it out as a website and then app, after furnishing and polishing our frontend. Finally, we would publish for the world to use, as a free non-profit app.

For our submission, we don't have those, they were mostly taken from us, so the gits and files and youtube vids will just be random videos, as they are required to submit. Git will be a previous project, if you want to look at it.

As for judging (pls read)

Please judge us on our idea, and not so much the finished product, as we lost more than half our code. We finished most of the frontend, it wasn't totally furnished because of the work we did on the backend, but we would've had a polished app AND website if not for the 2 members taking our neural network and backend. Thank You!
