Inspiration
We wanted to provide better banking and other financial services to underbanked people so that they are given a way to start trusting banks and doing things like building credit. We are passionate looking to provide comfortable services with no hidden fees to show people that we are a trustworthy financial service
What it does
Our project is a website that provides in-depth financial services for people and allows them to create accounts with us to ensure they have a good financial future. It also educates users in different financial accounts and services before they open one up.
How we built it
We primarily built our website using HTML and CSS for our front end to develop our web pages and account sign-up pages. We used MongoDB Atlas for our database and then connected our front end and back end.
Challenges we ran into
We found it hard in the beginning to develop a proper idea that would meet the challenge criteria. Everyone on our team had differing ideas, all of them good ones, but we wanted to select the idea that best matched the criteria. We also found it hard to connect our front end and back end to build a working website. We were able to build both aspects separately but putting them together proved to be a true challenge of our knowledge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are able to build a website from scratch. We could register users from the database by looking up if they already exist in our database and if they aren't allowed to register for an account. We were also able to complete and deploy our front end successfully.
What we learned
We learned how to deploy our front end and back end, and we also got a better understanding of how to successfully use GitHub as a team. Another big thing we learned was how to connect a front end to a back end to search our database to help register users. Although we knew how to build a front end and back end, we only knew how to connect them today successfully.
What's next for Project
We pushed out a demo version of our project for HackUTD. This being our first hackathon, we were still new to the time constraint and needed to budget our time better. We plan to continue developing this website outside of this event by cleaning up errors, improving aesthetics, and allowing more and more people to reach our website.
