Inspiration

We were inspired by the.......... Opportunity to just try out something new! 3 out of 4 us are new comers, so with not a really strong idea on what a hackathon truly is about, we were just mystically allured to doin the QRT MITM challenge(still dunno why we were all interested in doing it, must've been a coincidence). And there you have it! 2 people from Sheffield, a person from Newcastle and me(from Birmingham)

What it does

We have created a cool application which intakes a csv of employee details(i.e what country they'll be coming from)as well as meeting details(e.g. how long the meeting will). Then the user will then vary some parameters they want to focus on on minimising when considering the unified meeting spot such as whether one wants a great emphasis on minimising emissions and perhaps not much by distance

Then if theres a feasible meetup point, it will visually display it as well as show corresponding statistics

How we built it

Honestly, with hopes and dreams(thats literally the name of the script) but we stuck to using python as well as its fancy tools and frameworks(streamlit has a special place in my heart)

Challenges we ran into

Too many. With the majority of the team being first comers. We couldn't obviously hit the ground running, but thats fine! Learning is the biggest takeaway at hackathons I reckon. We had a lot of issues accessing the QRT servers, especially when it came to accessing and aggregating the GIGANTIC dataset they had which was really important to actually do the challenge itself, so there was a lot of oscillation between working with the entiredataset via the server and having to switch to locally working on our machines with a small snippet of the dataset

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have made a functional piece of code(semi-functional truth be told)

What we learned

We have also learnt a lot about communication, articulacy and pragmatism!

What's next for Project

If we were to carry on with the challenge I think we would stretch ourselves beyond python.
