Project Solace – Listening to the Emotional Heartbeat

Inspiration

At some point in our lives, each of us has felt emotionally overwhelmed—whether from workplace stress, burnout, anxiety, or silent panic. For many, those feelings remain unspoken, dismissed as “just part of the job.” But the cost is real: emotionally, mentally, and economically.

We were deeply moved by the simple, painful truth: so many employees are silently struggling—and no one seems to notice.


What Solace Does

Solace is an AI-powered wellness assistant built to support enterprise employees dealing with: Depression Anxiety Burnout Panic attacks Workplace pressure

It listens without judgment, offers grounding techniques, coping strategies, and emotional validation—all within Slack. It’s discreet, always available, and simple to use.

Built on Salesforce Agentforce, Solace is scalable, secure, and customizable for different workplace needs. It provides personalized, real-time support while ensuring user data is handled with care and integrity.

How We Built It

We wanted to build a mental wellness solution that integrated seamlessly into the everyday flow of work—no downloads, no dashboards, no disruption. That’s why we chose to integrate Solace directly into Slack.

Slack is where teams already communicate. By embedding Solace here, we ensured support was always just a message away.

To power Solace, we used Salesforce Agentforce, a robust low-code AI platform that allowed us to: Design dynamic, emotionally intelligent conversation flows Offer real-time responses based on user sentiment Ensure enterprise-grade security, compliance, and scalability Integrate with existing HR and well-being systems

This combination—Slack's accessibility and Agentforce's reliability—allowed us to build an emotionally intelligent assistant that feels personal, yet performs at scale.

Challenges We Ran Into

Building empathy into AI isn’t just technical—it’s deeply human.

Our biggest challenge was crafting Solace’s tone to feel supportive, not scripted. We invested time in user interviews, emotional dialogue writing, and flow-testing to make sure every interaction felt safe and sincere.

Another challenge: navigating the complexity of secure enterprise environments. Thankfully, Agentforce gave us the structure to handle sensitive interactions with confidence—while Slack ensured seamless user access.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

Developing a Slack-native AI assistant that makes help accessible in seconds. Using Agentforce to personalize and scale emotional support without sacrificing empathy. Creating a product that users said “feels like talking to someone who really cares.” Contributing to the shift in how organizations think about employee mental health.

What We Learned

Empathy in technology is possible—but it must be intentional. The platforms we already use daily, like Slack, can become powerful channels for support. Agentforce proved invaluable—not just for rapid development, but for building trust through secure, scalable AI. Mental health deserves a seat at the table in every workplace—and it starts with listening.
