PROJECT S — A Tiny Battlefield. A World in Your Hands.

What if you could reach into a real-time strategy game, pick up a tiny robot, and throw it straight into battle?

That's Project S.

A colorful VR/MR tabletop strategy game where miniature armies come alive, battles unfold right in front of you, and your own hands become the way you command them.

Inspired by the real-time strategy games I loved growing up in the 1990s, Project S brings the nostalgia of classic RTS gameplay into an entirely new dimension: a living, interactive battlefield you can physically play with.

A Battlefield You Can Touch

The biggest evolution of Project S for the competition is its hands-first gameplay, bringing the familiar controls of classic real-time strategy games into a physical, interactive world.

Players can pinch to select individual robots, grab units and vehicles, reposition them, or playfully toss them toward their destinations. Once released, units navigate the battlefield and carry out their orders.

For larger battles, players can draw a rectangular selection directly on the tabletop using a pinch gesture to select multiple units at once. With another pinch at a destination, they can command the entire group to move, capture territories or engage enemy forces.

From carefully positioning a single robot to commanding an entire squad with simple hand gestures, Project S makes strategy feel natural, tactile and playful.

Your hands become the interface. Your tabletop becomes a living battlefield.

A Small World Full of Big Battles

Behind its cute, colorful appearance, Project S offers a complete real-time strategy experience.

Explore 10 unique planets, battle through 40 levels, and command 10 fully playable factions, each bringing its own personality, visual identity and special abilities to the battlefield.

Capture territories, secure factories, build your forces and push toward victory while your units automatically engage enemies. Strategy stays at the center, without overwhelming players with complicated controls.

There are several ways to play:

  • Campaign: Progress through 40 levels across 10 different planets.
  • Skirmish: Jump into standalone strategic battles and experiment with different factions and tactics.
  • Multiplayer: Face other players and put your battlefield decisions to the test.

Whether you're planning your next attack or watching a tiny robot charge into complete chaos, Project S balances strategic decisions with lighthearted, unpredictable fun.

Cute Robots. Big Personalities.

Project S embraces a playful cartoon sci-fi universe, filled with expressive robots, colorful environments, energetic battles and humorous animated sequences.

Its charming presentation is intentional: I wanted a strategy game that feels welcoming, fun and full of character, even when the battlefield becomes chaotic.

English and French voiceovers bring extra personality to the adventure. A guided tutorial combines spoken instructions with visual demonstrations to teach players how to interact naturally with the miniature world.

Personalized voice lines can even address players by name, turning victories, defeats and unexpected battlefield moments into something a little more memorable.

Two Ways to Experience the Magic

In Virtual Reality, the battlefield comes to life inside a nostalgic 1990s-inspired living room, complete with stylized robotic hands that fit the game's cartoon personality.

In Mixed Reality, the battlefield enters your actual surroundings. Using passthrough, real-hand interactions and hand occlusion, you can place, reposition and resize your miniature world, then reach directly into the action.

Two different environments, one simple idea: make a strategy game feel like a toy world that has suddenly come alive.

Built Solo. Reimagined for the Competition.

Project S is a passion project developed independently in Unity for standalone Meta Quest.

Over six months, I've brought together tactical gameplay, multiple playable factions, multiplayer, animated characters, bilingual voiceovers, VR/MR interactions and a cohesive cartoon universe.

For this competition, I went much further than the currently published LIVE version, significantly expanding the game and rebuilding its interaction experience around hand tracking.

The greatest challenge has been making an RTS feel intuitive through natural gestures, while keeping the battlefield readable, the interactions responsive and the entire experience suitable for standalone VR.

My ambition was never simply to recreate the strategy games I grew up with.

I wanted to bring those little worlds off the screen, place them in front of the player, and finally let them reach inside.

Because sometimes, the biggest adventures happen on the smallest battlefields.

Updates

posted an update —

Project S is evolving!

What started as a small passion project inspired by the classic RTS games of the 90s has grown into a much bigger VR/MR adventure!

Over the past few months, I've been working on a major update featuring 10 planets, 40 levels, 10 unique factions, new animations, improved AI, multiplayer, and fully hand-tracked gameplay.

I've also added more personality, funny moments, and plenty of little surprises along the way. Everything is available in both English and French, including the voices and jokes!

As a solo developer, it's been an exciting journey bringing this little universe to life.

Thanks to everyone supporting Project S!
