Inspiration
This game was inspired off of Badland, a mobile game that is iconic for it's dark color scheme and visual design. I drew inspiration off of their aesthetic and created visuals.
What it does
The player can control a small avatar. The purpose of the game is to advance through the map and reach the door at the end. Once you complete the last level, you've won the game!
How I built it
The game was built on Unity, using C# as the programming language in the scripts. The images and map elements were all custom made.
Challenges I ran into
Prior to creating this game, I did not know a single thing about C#. So I had to learn a completely new language in just a couple hours, which was definitely not easy.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Gravity. Gravity works. It took nearly 2 hours to get gravity to work.
What we learned
Unity is a super fun software to use! I learned how to develop a game for the first time. I also learned basic C# for the first time.
What's next for Shadowland
More levels!!!! Interactable maps!!!! Dangerous mobs!!!! Special powerups!!!! Since I had just learned C#, I could only do so much with my limited skills. In the future, Shadowlands will be so much better and so much more fun!
