Inspiration
Our love for a cleaner environment for those with respiratory diseases.
What it does
Compiles emission data from government agencies and weigh hospitalization and mortality rates due to particulate matter, ozone, and nitrogen dioxide. Then, fetches a Terra API payload with key influences on those with respiratory illnesses: Exercise Level, Oxygen Concentration, Sleep Health, Average BPM. Provide real-time feedback based on these factors and their proximity to emissions zones.
How we built it
Data visualization was done in Python using Numpy and Pandas. On the front-end, we utilized React. We prototyped the project using Figma and staged it in Vercel.
Challenges we ran into
Sheer size of data points. Connecting Terra API. Focusing on key health factors that could increase or decrease the effects of emissions on a person's health.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created a Minimum Viable Product. Prototyped it in Figma. Developed the Risk Point Algorithm for Mortality and Hospitalization rates based on each disease cross-referenced by specific emissions.
What we learned
Effects of emissions on people with respiratory illnesses. Learn how to analyze, visualize, and validate large data sets. Cross-functional team dynamics. Full-stack development.
