Inspiration
We talked to college students and found the best way to give them food. Originally, we were going to have college students provide food to other college students, but we scrapped that idea due to security and safety concerns.
What it does
Project Provide is a aggregation service that allows people to post events where there is food. This allows college students a safe and secure way to get food quickly.
How we built it
We created an api using Flask, a database and authentication using Firebase, and the site with bootstrap.
Challenges we ran into
We had some issues creating the site and weren't able to do all the features we wanted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of getting the api set up and creating the backend using firebase.
What we learned
We learned about the disadvantages of using services like Firebase that are more limited compared to other dbs like SQLite. We also learned about the process of creating a fullstack app.
What's next for Project Provide
We plan to include support for maps, where events will be displayed directly, and to touch up the site more. We also want to improve security.
