Project Projector

Inspiration

Our inspiration came from our strong belief that in this digital age, the art of creating things with your own hands should not be lost. Instead, technology can still be used to enhance and help that creation, but not completely take it over.

What it does

Have you ever wanted to create a poster or card but felt like you needed to be able to play around with the elements and things on the medium first? Introducing Project Projector, the app that assists in the creation of your next project or art piece. First, take a picture of your medium, whether it be a canvas, journal, or poster. Then, crop the image to the size of your medium. This image will act as a draft of your final project. You now have the ability to add elements, such as text, icons, and images to your project. You can use the slider at the bottom of the page to either horizontally or vertically mark the page into sections, allowing you a cleaner-looking project. You can also save your project to the library on the app to add or refer back to in the future. At the end, you can connect your phone to a projector and project the draft you made on Project Projector onto your medium to trace or use as a guide.

How I built it

First, we started off with creating a moodboard. This helped us understand what color scheme to go with how we generally wanted our app to look like. Next, we went into Adobe XD to create a prototype. While the prototype, we started working on the actual app using the software XCode and the language Swift. The prototype made it the furthest and we were able to complete most of the interfaces on there.

Challenges I ran into

Challenges included learning the softwares we used, as we are not well versed in Adobe XD and XCode. We also were not able to make the interfaces look the way we intended for it to.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The fact we were able to even make a functioning prototype is awesome! We both enjoyed working together to make something that we both are passionate about and solves a problem we both face everyday.
