Inspiration

We were inspired by the learning track and AccuWeather's API to create a fun game somehow incorporating the weather.

What it does

Fun interactive game that uses AccuWeather's API to reflect the weather while the user plays and cares for an animal.

How we built it

We built our app using Unity, Visual Studio, C#, JDK, Android Studio, and found some of our art through google. UI Sources: Food button image Cat button image

Challenges we ran into

One of our team members left the group after the first day without giving us the code he had been working on for the project, so had to pick up his slack and make up for the lost work. Initially we had planned to use AccuWeather's Current Conditions API, but the limited time frame made it so we could not implement this or a visualization of the weather. Instead we display four weather conditions at random in our application for the user to mimic what we would have liked the feature to do. Our other challenge was that many of the members in our group had very little experience in either C# or Unity, but we all wanted to challenge ourselves to learn something new with this hackathon and so we did.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully building and running an AR Android application with the majority of base features we wanted. The UI is intractable and allows users to push buttons and spawn Chonkers The Sphere.

What we learned

How to use Unity, familiarized ourselves with C# and git, and how to use developer tools on Android. The biggest take away was how to make AR.

What's next for Project Petshop

I,,Camryn Moy, have resources back at University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I can continue to tweak the program, and possibly create a VR version of the application.
