Inspiration
My project was based on a brief I've received from a freelance client, who needs branding and website design for their Luxury Apartment Development business. I am new to Webflow so thought it would be an ideal brief to learn the basics of building, animation and responsive design using Webflow. My client wanted a premium look and feel, with a particular focus on high fidelity imagery and strong animation.
What it does
I chose to create a landing page / homepage for my clients brochure site. The primary focus being to sell the luxury apartments that they develop. The main purpose of the landing page is to encourage users to browse their apartments, understand the values of the company, and ultimately get in touch to organise a viewing.
How I built it
I started by researching and mood-boarding some ideas for my branding and look/feel of the website, which I documented in Pinterest. After that, I moved into Sketch to do some quick logo mockups (as this wasn't the primary output of the challenge) and began mapping out the content for the first part of my landing page. Once I felt I had a good enough vision for my project, I started pulling it all together in Webflow. Because it was my first real project using Webflow I wanted to give myself enough time to get to grips with the basics and learn as I was working.
Challenges I ran into
Because I was brand new to the tool, I found myself working slower than I was expecting. However I feel I could produce future projects much quicker now I have the skills. I also found creating the load animation difficult as there were a lot of elements to consider and it took me a while to get the smooth effect i was hoping for.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm super proud of the level of work I managed to complete in such a short amount of time having no experience with using Webflow before. I feel I could confidently take on another project using Webflow.
What I learned
I learned that you should probably do more pre-planning before a time restricted design-athon ;) and I learnt a LOT about Webflow - particularly on the animation tools.
What's next for Project Oval - Luxury Apartment Developer
I want to continue working on the project to complete the mobile responsive views and flesh out the website with many more pages such as apartment detail pages, about the company and potentially an apartment configurator tool for their bespoke property services.
