The Central Bull

Inspiration

Walking to and from classes, I always gave time to look at the bulletin boards and see what was happening.
A consistency I found was the way posters would be outdated by a week or more, and still be hanging up.

What it does

We designed The Central Bull to solve what bulletin boards cannot.
This includes auto-removing outdated content, sorting content by date of occurrence, and the ability to search for a title.

How we built it

Our tech stack consists of React and Firebase. We use CSS for styling.

Challenges we ran into

Time was our biggest constraint. Our group was only fully after the Opening Ceremonies, which meant we weren't able to fully discuss what the idea was beforehand.
An unexpected challenge was GitHub Classroom + Firebase. Even after the approval from UB Hacking organizers, we were not able to automatically deploy our changes which reduced our workflow productivity.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a team that was formed from the Opening Ceremonies, we performed extremely well, given the time constraints, environment, and skill limitations.
We were able to learn new things, learn how to not do certain things, and have a gained a greater understanding of how to successfully develop this product.

What we learned

We learned that our requirements for MVP were just out of our range.
The time constraint negatively affected our planning and led to poor choices.
While we would have liked being able to launch a fully complete and working webapp within this hackathon, we greatly value quality which we will solve before we launch.
