Subnautica was recently released and features heavy usage of different types of submarines.
What it does
Our application features a submarine depth test, allowing for different submarine hull materials, hull thickness, and submarine radius. It also features simulations for levels of various life support systems (oxygen, carbon dioxide, food, etc.), and a showcase of many 'sea critters' with information about them.
How we built it
We built it using the node.js platform, with express for routing, ejs for frontend templating, mongodb for data storage, and bulma as our frontend css framework.
Challenges we ran into
Math is hard, and version control can be a pain for sure.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It came together, works as intended (*no guarantee provided) and looks pretty good.
What we learned
Many learned how to build a website and others learned various other frameworks for front and back end
What's next for Project MIST
We will continue to add materials, price calculations and many other innovative features.
