Inspiration

Mental health has been getting worse post-pandemic, and we wanted to give people a way to destress and recover in whatever way is best for them.

What it does

Our website provides users a variety of ways for them to destress. There are many different options that users can choose from - Lofi Music, Pomodoro Timer, Breathing Bubble, Inspiring Quotes, Color Quiz, Photo Gallery - which can help them relax.

How we built it

We built a webpage using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

We had to learn more about CSS animations in order to create the Breathing Bubble. Additionally, we had to learn more about JavaScript time intervals and how to stop them in order to make the Pomodoro timer. Saving notes on the Pomodoro page was also a challenge and we had to use local storage to do so. We also encountered difficulty formatting the navigation bar to include drop downs, images, and individual pages.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of incorporating different music into the Lofi page to give users more options. Additionally, the CSS animations needed to create the Breathing Bubble are something we are very proud of. Looking at our final product, we felt the pages were cohesive despite each making the foundational parts of different pages.

What we learned

We learned how to work more in depth with CSS animations, using local storage to save elements on the page, and we learned how to work more in depth with JavaScript to calculate the results of the color quiz.

What's next for Project Lotus

We'd love to add more tabs to find new ways to help people ground themselves and take care of their mental wellbeing. We'd also like to further expand on the bubble and timer with more customization so it is even more useful and personalized for users.
