Inspiration
We at VRtistry.tech are inspired by the new technologies and possibilities.
What it is
Perm Gates is an art project by Nikolai Polissky, which greets visitors and citizens of Perm, but is going to be demolished due to its age and road construction. We saved it for Perm Museum of Contemporary Art (PERMM). We took an attempt of saving and virtually relocating an endangered art object from Perm to Prague using photogrammetry and AR.
How we built it
We took around 2000 photos from the ground and with a drone, then developed them in Lightroom. We loaded them into RealityCapture for 3D reconstruction, when it was finished we simplified and exported the resulting model as GLB. After that we loaded the model into Adobe Aero, placed it in Prague and shot the result.
Challenges we ran into
Flying the drone in city centre was quite a challenge. Adobe Aero is quite a challenge too!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We found nobody saved art objects in such a way, we are the first! The model also turned out pretty good.
What we learned
Everything is possible.
