Second Chances

The Covid- 19 Pandemic affected people everywhere and of every age. Through the use of social media, we all saw how it changed lives so quickly, sometimes in a week, other times in a split second. Often, it was over a devastating phone call, where they learned that they no longer had a stable way to provide for their family. The struggle that unemployed people went through over this pandemic encouraged us to create something to help them. Often, it is hard for people who have lost their job to get another one in the same field. If a person is unemployed and has never worked, due to not having completed school, or no longer pursuing the field they studied, they might be struggling with money or a family. This would result in them refusing the option of a community. college, or an in-person program. Second Chances helps those unemployed get prepared for their next job in a matter of weeks. Virtually. Our website takes into account each person's previous occupations, graduation status, etc. to provide them with a two to three week course that will prepare them to apply for another job, especially with our partner companies, who allow our online courses to take the place of a missing college or high school course. We built our website using primarily HTML and CSS, creating a registration form that the website will use to provide the applicant with the right course, and some sample links of courses. At first, we struggled with incorporating design elements and commanding the links to take us to a different page, but with some research and trials, we can proudly say that we were able to use each of our elements the way they were supposed to. We learned more about the world of coding and how we could use different commands to create a fully functioning website. Second Chances is what we will give all of these unemployed people a second chance to help themselves and their family. We hope to expand in the future and convince many companies to join our mission.
