Inspiration
We are inspired by the founder's vision of a biosimilar insulin drug that will be affordable to all, especially those without insurance. One of the organization's pain points is to raise funds for marketing and drug development.
What it does
Our project has two main innovative features that we hope to be implemented into the original website. It calculates the price of insulin to let donors get an idea of the steep cost of insulin for patients. In addition, we developed a feature where the donor will receive a 3D printed insulin molecule each time that they donate $50. The website insulin counter will also go up by 1 and the goal is to fill the entire webpage up with insulin molecules to signify the progress of donations!
How we built it
The 3D molecule was designed in Pymol and the PDB file name was 4IYD. The 3D molecule was printed with 3D printers from the Maker Lab at Brandeis. Also, we used EditorX for the website features and calculatorproject.com to build the insulin cost calculator.
Challenges we ran into
Trouble finding or creating a physics simulator for the insulin molecules to free fall whenever a donor donates $50.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created website and 3D printed molecule
