Inspiration 💡

We were inspired to build this by our loved ones and their connection to autism. We wanted to create this website as a way for them to safely express their emotions, learn how to pronounce words, and to see them grow in a positive way.

What it does 🤔

It allows the children to follow along with books and learn to read them, talk to our chatbot so they can see how to respond in real-life conversation, learn a positive way to express emotions, express themselves with music and dance, and learn through repetitive songs.

How we built it 🏗️

We mostly built it with Figma and some through HTML. Since we have a team member that is experiencing their first hackathon, we do not have a fully functioning website running. We do however plan to add more in the future because we feel as though this app can change lives.

Challenges we ran into 😒

We ran into multiple challenges like finding a good character to use for the demo, figuring out how to do simple animations, and even finding information on how to create an autistic-friendly website/app. We did, however, overcome many challenges, especially when creating an autistic-friendly website by asking multiple family members what they wanted to see on the website and what features to include.

Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆

Isaiah: "I am proud that I was able to create a project at my first hackathon. I was also proud of the website/app I created because I felt like it would be able to help my sisters."

Jasani: "I am proud that Isaiah was able to complete his first hackathon project and I am proud of the design I came up with. I think we had a good idea and a solid execution."

What we learned 📝

Isaiah: "I learned how to use HTML and Figma"

Jasani: "I learned a lot about the hardships those with autism, and others on the spectrum face throughout every day of their lives."

What's next for Project Hope ⏭️

We hope to push out as much awareness as possible about those with autism and to continue to create something that we can use.
