Inspiration

Homelessness and healthcare come hand in hand, in an increasingly negative manner. An alarming amount of homeless people who are in need of medical treatment, never even receive a diagnosis, let alone a solution. Complications to acquiring access to healthcare include the loss of knowledge about where to find treatment, identification, and transportation. Psychological barriers also exist, such as embarrassment, nervousness about filling out the forms and answering questions properly, and self-consciousness about appearance and hygiene when living on the streets. The most significant obstacle to health care is the cost, and our motivation for our project is to solve that problem.

What it does

Project Hoctor is a website that provides access to diagnoses, vaccinations, treatments, online medical exams, and lab tests/screenings.

How we built it

We started by creating a business pitch including our marketing strategies, plans for the future, and how we face our competitors. We then executed our idea by creating a website.

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble creating an operational website that successfully included the features we wanted to include.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create a website that contains features of which users can seamlessly utilize, such as a book now button which navigates you to a calendar where you can confirm your appointment. We also created a solid business plan which outlines our plans and each step of the phases of the development of our project.

What we learned

We learned how to divide up our work and utilize our team efforts.

What's next for Project Hoctor

Project Hoctor is going to apply for sponsorships and grants from communities at the local and state level, so we can further build our platform.
