Inspiration

Frustrated with juggling Excel spreadsheets, browser tabs, and sticky notes for travel planning, I experienced the chaos firsthand during a family vacation where I had 15+ tabs open and multiple Excel files but still couldn't get a clear picture of our itinerary. I realized there had to be a better way - a single AI-powered platform that could organize trips while providing intelligent recommendations.

What it does

Holiday Moo Calendar is a smart AI-powered travel platform that consolidates all trip planning tools into one interface. Users chat with Moo, an AI travel assistant, who provides personalized recommendations for restaurants, activities, and attractions. Everything gets organized in a beautiful calendar interface with integrated maps, bucket lists, and export features - transforming travel planning from chaos to clarity.

How we built it

  • 100% Code Generation: Built entirely with Kiro AI assistance
  • AI Integration: xAI for conversation control, Perplexity for intelligent search
  • Location Services: Google Maps API and Google Places API for smart location features
  • Agent-to-Agent Architecture: Multiple AI agents collaborating seamlessly

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was designing an AI workflow that balanced cost efficiency with functionality. Each AI API call costs money, so we needed to create smart context management, optimize conversation flows, and coordinate multiple AI agents without redundant processing while maintaining responsive user experience and robust security.
