Inspiration
The epidemic of COVID19 will also produce, in addition to the health crisis, sequels that will require a social reorganization. In addition to the health problem, food and resource crises of different kinds may eventually occur, including psychological support, employment, financial, medicine and others.
What it does
The measures necessary to deal with the problem of the COVID19 epidemic include, among others, increasing the contact distance between people and reducing the frequency of contacts. This by itself and for very short periods of time do not pose any problem, however, achieving it for a whole region or country for days or complete quarantines or beyond a quarantine brings many other difficulties. Those that are first glimpsed by obvious, is the decrease in trade in goods and services, with the consequent decrease in income and the possible loss of sources of employment and jobs. Which already means a hard blow to people's mood. However, according to the natural course of the epidemic, following the passing of the days, the effects of the presence of the epidemic will be evident. Personal isolation, impoverishment, lack of food, a very restricted social life. Needs of different kinds will arise, all under the uncertainty of even being infected or that loved ones, family, friends, colleagues or neighbors are infected, as well as the possibility of the death of ourselves and one of them. Given this, a critical need will be that of aid in a social system overwhelmed by the excessive situation of the epidemic. A pressing need will be the means to coordinate on the possibility of offering and / or requesting help. The reality shock will trigger psychological needs as well as physiological and economic needs. The possibilities of offering aid will also skyrocket. The problem is how do we coordinate this cascade of requests and offers? To answer this problem, we propose the ELPIS application to link offers and requests for help.
The Elpis project is to advance a way of continually organizing and reorganizing so that punctual offers and requests for help can be issued to facilitate solidarity redistribution of resources. Through a similar system of classified ads by three categories: Accompaniment, Information and Distribution of resources. Elpis will facilitate and support users by receiving help notifications that they can provide according to their preferences and geolocation. Looking forward to connecting with government agencies and private companies that can provide support
How I built it
Through a social platform where users can offer and request different types of aid on demand and free of charge, to help and guide the population in a situation of isolation and different deprivations. By using geolocation, to be able to map the areas, connect with neighbors and generate communities of support and assistance for the distribution of resources and verified and valuable information, in order to flatten the curve, helping to vent the saturation of the Health services.
Using ReactNative, Nodejs,Javascript,Firebase. We consider use React for developt the front end of app, creating NodeJs Services and storage all data in firebase for rapid development of backend using the platform tools for security, scalability and data persistence. Also use tools of facebook for make login with social accounts and get the network of user for sharing info, services and the app
Challenges I ran into
It is estimated that in the months after quarantine there will be an increase of up to 28% in cases of depression, anxiety and stress as a consequence of the social isolation necessary to prevent the progression of the COVID pandemic19, but this is not the only problem that we will have to face. As humanity, a food, economic and even security crisis is also expected. Only in Mexico there are 53 million people in vulnerable conditions and who have the minimum income, that is, they live daily, if we take into account the exponential value of psychological disorders that social isolation would entail, we would be talking about about 15 million people with problems of stress, anxiety and depression which translates into an expense of 5,826 million pesos at least for the treatment of these people, but what about Latin America that has countries with characteristics similar to Mexico?
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The Elpis Network will be made up of a multidisciplinary group of professionals and citizens, including a network of specialists in mental health (Psychologists without Borders), doctors specializing in transmission diseases, Mercadologists, technology developers, but above all supportive enthusiasts. We are convinced with the formation of these communities based on empathy, we can help each other effectively as true human beings and humanized, because that represents Elpis, hope.
What I learned
The Elpis project aims to create an electronic support community to prevent possible imbalances of different types in the long term, help people find a solution to isolation, promoting communities self-organization to find collective and community solutions to future problems inherent in social isolation, economic stagnation and shortages of different types.
