Inspiration
we were inspired by the lack a learning-support community for students locally that could function as a group of people who could mentor youths/students who are learning individually online.
What it does
Learned enables the user to seek help from the community of users on our platform by allowing them to directly contact the particular course coordinator from our site to seek better help with regards to their progress in the course. Learned also servers as a platform for Peer to Peer learning as users can find other users who are struggling with a particular topic and offer to mentor the person.
How we built it
The front-end was built using the ReactJS framework, whereas the back-end was built using an express server with a mySQL database implementation. The initial prototype was created using Adobe XD.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a huge time constraint as we realised halfway through our Hack that we didn't have as much time as we thought we would have to build and deploy the entire project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of being able to at least host the back-end as well as the database up on Heroku as well as being able to come up with an almost identical front-end application of the design mock-up within the 24 hours.
What we learned
Cody has a learned a whole new way to code using properties in ReactJS TingXiao has learned to build better wireframes and animations on Adobe XD
What's next for Project Doggo Ipsum (085)
We hope to be able to continue and build our project after this event as we believe that Learned is going to positively impact everyone who is struggling with figuring out the online learning resources available. We believe that Learned will change the way people learn online as they can engage in more peer to peer teaching/learning sessions through future implementations such as video communication functions, better matching for a person who requires assistance to the most appropriate user who could help him.
