Inspiration

Working from home (especially in isolation) can be extremely physically and mentally draining. Being in your comfort zone, there is a lack of motivation, incentive and urgency to do any work and you can easily become distracted - a clear contrast from a work office environment. In this state, you may find work pile up endlessly, leading you to even forget some tasks. Our team saw a need for a web app that reminds and, most importantly, inspires urgency to complete tasks.

What it does

In summary:

  • It is a task storing database (in format: task name, due date)
  • Each task has a measured importance, ranging from 1-5. By completing more tasks, especially more important ones, your productivity rate increases - which is represented in your productivity trend.

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was coming into the Hackathon with little to no skill in these programming languages.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Although the app is nowhere near completion, we're proud of how hard we worked as a team and proud of how the app has turned out.

What we learned

Besides these programming languages, we learnt that working in a team requires understanding and perseverance from all members, in order to manage differences in views as well as use our different strengths.

What's next for Project do.

Our team is keen to continue developing the app and hope to add many of the features that we were unable to during this Hackathon such as:

  • Sorted by date/time for easy readability
  • Ability to mark important tasks
  • Ability to set when reminders will go off + 'snooze' option → in order to address the issue of having glanced then ignoring tasks
  • Calendar view of tasks by day/month
  • Emphasis on due date/time to address lack of urgency

We believe that this app has potential to do what other reminder apps cannot which is to really urge their users to be productive.
