Inspiration
Our diverse team had one thing in common, a love for the show Seinfeld. We decided to bring it to life by recreating an iconic moments from the show by combining hardware and software.
What it does
When an individual opens the door, the Seinfeld theme is played on the rooms speakers.
How we built it
An Arduino and time of flight senor read the distance to the door. When opened, it triggers a python script to make a Spotify API call to play the first 10 seconds of the Seinfeld theme. Spotify is running on the room's PC which is connected to the room's speakers allowing for an immersive audio experience.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered issues with wiring the components and connected to the Spotify API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Utilizing both software and hardware to create a fun experience that we shared with the other hackers!
What we learned
The potential of sending serial data from an Arduino to a python script.
What's next for Project Costanza
In the future, we want to implement a wifi integrated Arduino that does not require it to be connected to a laptop.
