What it does
Project Connection brings private citizens and organizations together, allowing people to discover the specific needs of homeless shelters in their area. Homeless shelters are able to specify what kinds of products they need and how much they need of them, and people are able to view and respond to these requests. The explicit nature of this interaction helps demystify the act of giving and helps to ensure that one's contributions make a direct impact.
About the project
Our website is based on a Python back-end supported by a Flask framework. We use mongodb to store user and shelter information, and we use Apache and a .tech domain to host our site.
What we learned
We learned a lot about Google's Map APIs. We also learned about deploying a Flask app onto an Apache server. We sharpened our Python, HTML, CSS, and JS skills, and developed closer friendships along the way!
