My Dad used to claim he could smell the rain when I was younger, it blew my mind every time he accurately predicted the coming rain. It was not until I was 14 doing geography that I realized His trick- he was that he was very good at reading clouds(still impressive), a skill that we dont seem to be passing down anymore because we invented weather apps.
Project Cirrus teaches you about different cloud types and the weather they bring along with them, using Augmented reality to change your real life sky to show what the specific clouds look like.
I built it using the powerful platform that is lens studio, and the Accuweather Api.
Creating the Individual clouds proved to be a difficult task because some clouds come in vast groups hence modeling and bunching that into lens studio wasn't the easiest task but the 8mb space really gave me a chance to add as much detail as I could.
The fact that the lens is published and can be used by anyone right now, is the biggest achievement to me
What's next for Project Cirrus:
I want to add a second mode that allows users change the sky to the forecasted weather, think of it as seeing what the weather will be like tomorrow just by pointing your phone at the sky at simulating it. lens id: 382dba9d-d950-417e-9032-ad93d72a6546
