Inspiration

During this summer, I did an internship with Tabata Amaral, a federal deputy in Brazil who graduated from Harvard, she is an activist for education, marginalized populations, and women's rights. In her office, I was on the Territory team that has direct contact with the population and its demands, and it was a regular activity to hear from people about their children not having complete schedules in public schools because of a lack of teachers, and write to the State Education Secretary informing about it and asking for solutions. I was surprised to find out that the communication between public schools and their managers was so inefficient. I started to think that there should be a software system minding this gap, enabling a fast connection and timely updates.

What it does

The school can input a lack of teachers and/or structure material, the Education Secretary will have simultaneous access to that information, and they will be able to quickly take action and input an expected timeline to solve the request. It will also generate an open data report on a quarterly basis for the population to follow the educational system.

How it was built

It was built with AI (Chat GPT-3.5) using Python and HTML.

What's next for Project Brazil School

My plan is to better develop this prototype, reach political contacts, and put it into practice in a small town in Brazil, to further expand it statewide and nationally.
