Inspiration
A learning experience on Unity. Being beginners we hope to get some experience working in Unity. When it's all done we can expand and maybe create a better project with what we've learned. The concept of this game is for it to be a fighting game inspired by Lethal League but in a top-down 2D view.
What it does
Just like lethal league, we want the focus of the game to be centered around players trading hits with the ball as it climbs up to unbelievable speeds.
How we built it
This project was built using Unity and C#.
Challenges we ran into
There were many challenges we encountered, including how to implement gameplay mechanics, UI/menu functionality, animation, and a lot of bugs that prevents us from completing the project in the timeframe.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to create a menu with transition into the first level where we were able to have a sprite that responded to movement on keyboard and controller. It's not the finished game, but it's a start.
What we learned
We all learned more through working on our parts of the project, including working with animation, menu design, and gameplay mechanical design.
What's next for Project Bat
We will take a look again in the future to see how we can continue to work on the project to make a finished, functional game. We learned that there is a lot more for us to learn as this was, for many of us, the first Game Engine we have picked up. Many of us, hope to keep working on this past the hackathon so that we may have a playable game that we can play with others.
Here is what the workflow for this project looked like:
- David - Documentation, management, In-Game UI/ Ball
- Santiago - Player movement, input
- Francisco - Art/ animation
- Yong - Start screen, transition to game
