Inspiration

This was a game originally designed for the Weeky Game Jam #102: One Big Boss. It has since ballooned out into its own standalone idea. Inspired by other indie RPGs such as Lisa and UnderTale, it pays homage to games from the Super Nintendo era.

What it does

Control a novice mage's journey into learning spellcraft! Work with rescued magical creatures to practice skill in the four elements, or learn new spells as you keep your growing village safe.

The game contains a turn-based magical battle system, dynamic character dialogue, an a magical onion.

How I'm building it

This game is being built in Unity, programmed in C#, and music written with MuseScore and Reaper.

Challenges I ran into

Organizing a project of this scope has been difficult, and I've worked with several productivity systems to keep everything organized. Finding time to work on personal project is, as always, a challenge at times as well.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Compared to earlier projects, I'm pleased with the organization of my code. I've found maintenance has been a lot easier do to more carefully planned layout of scripts, inheritance, and data storage. I'm also excited about how the battle system is developing, and the creation of different spells has been both fun and, due to the aforementioned organizational improvements, relatively easy.

What I learned

What's next for Project Aristotle (WIP)

I hope to have a decent demo finished in the next couple of weeks! From there, I'll develop a more solid plan of what parts of the game to expand first.
