CareSync

Inspiration

With growing resource constraints and rising patient loads, healthcare staff are increasingly facing burnout. At the same time, while many digital health apps aim to improve patient convenience and empowerment, few truly integrate existing tools into a single, unified experience.

CareSync was born out of the need for a smarter, more connected solution—one that not only consolidates current functionalities into a single platform but also addresses unmet patient needs by introducing features that are not currently available.

What it does

CareSync is an AI-powered digital companion designed to help patients manage their health more proactively and independently, in turn reducing the load and rate of burnout for healthcare staff. With envisioned integration within HealthHub for seamless accessibility, CareSync offers a clear and intuitive overview of key health information and empowers users through a range of intelligent features.

These features include: (1) Personalized health resource recommendations, (2) Smart suggestions for medication reordering and mode of collection, (3) Self-booking capabilities for services such as smoking cessation programs, (4) Realtime delivery tracking, (5) Reminder setting and adherence documentation.

As a single, user-friendly platform, CareSync serves as a comprehensive hub that enables patients to take charge of their health with confidence and ease.

How we built it

We primarily used Bubble.io to build the web application and user interface.

Challenges we ran into

Despite Bubble.io being a low-code platform, there were still many technical concepts that were difficult to grasp—especially when working with dynamic items that update in real-time based on our database. For example, understanding when to use functions like “search for first item” versus “parent group” posed challenges, and involved multiple rounds of trial and error.

Another major hurdle was figuring out how to bring together various patient empowerment tools in a format that remains intuitive and user-friendly. This was particularly complex given that HealthHub already includes some similar features—so we had to be mindful not to reinvent the wheel or create duplicative functionality. Instead, we focused on reimagining how certain data could be presented more intuitively, while still fitting into the existing ecosystem.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully building a rather functional web application, especially with limited coding experience and background.

What we learned

Every platform has its own set of strengths and limitations. Low-code tools, while marketed as intuitive, could still be very challenging to use. ChatGPT is a powerful aid for self-learning and problem-solving during development.

What's next for CareSync

We hope to explore opportunities to integrate some of CareSync’s features and/or its UI/UX design into the NHG Health App and/or the upcoming HealthHub+ platform.
