Inspiration
I wanted to create a phone app game that blind people could use. I thought about how people with impaired vision often have to memorize the layout of rooms so as not to bump into anything. This takes a lot of visual memory. I wondered if I could replicate that experience in a game. Research in the Apple App store showed me that there weren't a lot of games out there for blind people, however smartphones are easily used by those with poor vision.
What it does
This game used swipes and haptics to solve a maze. It was really fun and challenging to program.
How I built it
MIT App Inventor
Challenges I ran into
I ran into a lot of challenges, like planning out the function of the game and with bugs while developing the app. I persevered and finally got it working!
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This was a challenging game to plan out.
What I learned
I enjoy designing games that might help people.
What's next for Blind Maze
Ideally I find a better text to voice but otherwise it is finished
