Inspiration -This project was born from real needs I’ve seen daily while working at a welfare boarding school. Tracking students manually — who’s in, who left, who’s missing — is inefficient and often unreliable. I realized how much we needed a smart, centralized system to monitor student presence in real-time, prevent untracked absences, and ensure safety.

What it does- The Boarding School Attendance App enables full real-time tracking of student presence through a smart dashboard, live attendance logs, student profiles, alert notifications, advanced reports, and fully customizable automations. It helps staff maintain control and respond immediately to any situation.

How we built it- I built the app using Bolt, a no-code development platform. It was my first time working with Bolt, and I was impressed by its powerful features, intuitive logic, and responsive design. I exported the app to Netlify for deployment and attempted to set up a custom domain via ENTRI (though I encountered some challenges there).

Challenges I ran into- The biggest challenge was managing the steep learning curve while building something from scratch with a new tool in a short time. Setting up the domain via ENTRI also proved tricky, and I couldn’t complete it before the deadline. Still, it pushed me to problem-solve and learn fast.

Accomplishments that we're proud of- I’m proud that this solution came from a real, urgent need and that I was able to create a functioning, professional-grade app in just two weeks — my first-ever Bolt project. The app is fully operational, beautifully designed, and includes automation, alerts, reports, and user management.

What we learned- I learned how to design and build an entire no-code system from the ground up — including interface planning, automation logic, alert systems, and live data tracking. I also learned how to communicate clearly with a no-code platform and troubleshoot independently.

What's next for Boarding school attendance app- I plan to polish the design, expand automation options, and implement user access levels for staff vs. administrators. I also want to finalize domain integration and present this system to real boarding school directors to explore real-world adoption. This is just the beginning.
