As college students, we recognize the struggle of prioritizing healthy habits over our busy daily schedules. We understand that people often forget to take care of themselves, and we wanted to create a way to motivate people to do self-care tasks. Rewarding users with trees planted by their own work helps incentivize them to take action fighting against climate change. By taking care of themselves, they are taking care of our planet.

What it does

Our website includes a database user sign-up/login system, that records a username and password using Firebase's authentication database. There is a checklist that lists various self-care tasks. Logging in/signing up allows a user to access this portion of the website.

How we built it

We built our website using HTML/CSS and Javascript, and implemented the database with Google FireBase. The coding was all done on VSCode.

Challenges we ran into

As a beginner group, we had to work together and on our own to learn the skills necessary to complete this project. Some challenges we ran into were syncing results from our website into the database, and controlling the pop-ups associated with successful entries. Another struggle we faced was dealing with Javascript for more advanced results.

We had wanted to implement a system where each user who logs in and interacts with the checklist contributes to a goal amount of entries. When the initial entry goal is reached, trees would be planted at certain entry milestones. However, due to our initial lack of experience with javascript and Firebase as well as the limited amount of time, we were unable to implement this.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how well we executed our original idea. This was a product of both of our efforts, and this was a learning experience for the both of us.
