TRACK: Women Empowerment & Social Good. We wanted to build a project that tackled one of the biggest issues women face today. In order to do that, we aimed to build a project that empowered women and increased their access to particular services. During our brainstorming sessions, we discussed access to education, gender-based violence, and women’s health.

Inspiration - We were wanting to empower women by increasing their access to resources. What it does/How we built it- We decided to build a website linking women to health resources and information, and most of all to nearby health clinics based on their age. Since many such websites and applications exist, we decided to make ours cater to a younger audience. This meant (1) making our information more simple and easy to digest (but still based on quality information from the CDC and other reputable sources), and (2) making it more aesthetically pleasing. We chose a website over an application or other methods because we thought it would be the most consolidated place for information to be stored. We used JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React.

Challenges we ran into- Some challenges we ran into include none of us using React or the Google API before. Many of us had never built a website before, which allowed for some debugging challenges.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of- We were proud of creating a website from scratch and working with a new team of people.

What we learned- We learned all about how to build a website and building out different features in a short amount of time.

What’s next- Hopefully, we would continue to build out the website with more information features including more filtering with the Google API.
