Inspiration

We noticed that while many platforms focus on either learning or assessment, few provide an integrated ecosystem that seamlessly connects skill evaluation with personalized growth. Whether for individual learners aiming to upskill or organizations looking to track employee capabilities, there was a clear need for a solution that combines robust assessments, personalized learning paths, and insightful analytics—all under one roof. This inspired us to build Progressofy, a modern skill assessment and learning platform.

What it does

Progressofy is a comprehensive platform that allows:

  • Learners to assess their skills, receive tailored learning recommendations, and track progress over time through visual dashboards and radar charts.
  • Teachers/Instructors to create custom assessments, integrate curated resources, and monitor student performance with real-time analytics.
  • Administrators to manage users, roles, platform-wide assessments, and oversee security through detailed audit logs.

It covers four key skill categories (Technical, Design, Business, Soft Skills) with diverse question formats and instant feedback. The platform also integrates learning resources from top providers, offering a complete journey from assessment ➔ personalized learning ➔ measurable growth.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing assessments to be flexible yet secure, supporting multiple formats (MCQs, code challenges, scenario-based questions) while preventing tampering or cheating.
  • Implementing real-time progress tracking and notifications in a way that scaled seamlessly with multiple concurrent users.
  • Crafting a dynamic recommendation engine that truly adapts learning resources based on nuanced assessment results.
  • Ensuring a highly responsive, accessible, and visually consistent experience across all devices, including offline-capable assessments for mobile.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Building a complete skill ecosystem that goes beyond isolated assessments or static learning—connecting them into a unified experience.
  • Implementing real-time features (live dashboards, progress updates, instant feedback) using Supabase subscriptions.
  • Designing beautiful, intuitive skill radar charts and comparative analytics to help learners visually understand their strengths and areas for growth.
  • Maintaining strict data security and compliance through RLS, audit logging, and GDPR-aligned practices.
  • Creating a highly modular UI with reusable components, supporting dark/light themes and category-specific color systems.

What we learned

  • How to effectively leverage serverless architectures (Supabase Edge Functions, real-time subscriptions) to build scalable, low-maintenance platforms.
  • The importance of design systems and consistent UX patterns, especially when covering diverse features from assessments to dashboards to resource recommendations.
  • Strategies for role-based access control and security in multi-user educational platforms.
  • How small details like micro-interactions and instant feedback loops dramatically improve learner engagement.
