I run into something similar a few years ago, and I liked it. However later I found out that it can only find cell towers in certain countries. I thought there must same demand in other countries it did not cover. So I decided to create my own cell tower lookup service.
It was first built as a simple tool for people to find a cell tower's location for almost all countries. As time goes by, I bring more cell towers to my visitors. Law reinforcements, police officers and app developers started to contact me asking for free API service. Eventually a global 500 company got in touch with me. That is how my service improved and API service comes out.
