Inspiration

Trends was extremely popular with ECS, but JSOM and ATEC had minimal engagement with it. So after some research it was the information overload that was so unappealing to them. To address this we compiled a list of the most important bits of information, wrapped it up in a simple UI, and made a page on trends for it.

What it does

Matches students with professors they can take next semester for a class. After being presented with them all, they can choose to read more about the professor with RMP comments, and add the professor's section(s) to the planner page for final consideration.

How we built it

We used the same tech stack as trends, react, tailwind, nebula API, and nationalize API.

Challenges we ran into

We spent a lot of time trying to code in non obtrusive ways to the rest of the Trends codebase, so eventually it can be a feature for all of UTD to use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how fast we got a Figma ready to implement and how well the Figma looked! We are also proud of how much we got done with just 2 team members.

What we learned

We learned about Figma's integrations with VS code and Figma's dev mode saved us so much time guesstimating the front end.

What's next for Professor-match

There are logical bugs which need attention, but after those are resolved we will submit a pull request to trends' dev branch. So some day you might see it on the production website.
