Inspiration
A director or client can change a VFX requirement after downstream work has already started. The hard question is not “which task is open?” It is “what just became invalid?” Existing trackers are good at dependencies people entered, but they rarely surface the semantic consequences nobody modeled ahead of time.
What PCI does
Production Change Intelligence turns a plain-language creative note into an evidence-backed recovery plan. In the Echoes of NYX demo, a NYX V18 material change affects 31 dependent shots. PCI separates 29 direct invalidations, 1 inferred lighting rework item, and 5 review/protected-behavior items. It then stages the smallest safe plan: pause 3 renders, reopen lighting, upgrade 16 unapproved shots, preserve 5 approved closeup wing animations, and add 10 dream-sequence material exceptions.
How it works
- ChangeInterpreter grounds the note into typed entities and constraints.
- ImpactInvestigator queries production memory through the official ClickHouse MCP path and gathers evidence.
- RecoveryPlanner proposes minimal typed actions without raw write SQL.
- A human approval gate stops the workflow before consequential mutation.
- Deterministic transactional tools execute approved actions.
- VerificationAgent re-queries the state and records the result in an append-only audit trail.
Why ClickHouse
ClickHouse is the production-memory layer for high-volume shot, asset, task, approval, and event history. The ADK agent launches the official mcp-clickhouse server when CLICKHOUSE_HOST credentials are configured. The repository also includes a synthetic SQLite fixture and a zero-cost deterministic browser demo so judges can reproduce the product flow without spending Gemini credits.
Learnings and challenges
The valuable unit is an invalidation, not a task. Separating direct facts from inferred rework and review-only risk makes an agent useful without making it reckless. The approval gate and post-execution verification are part of the product experience, not hidden implementation details.
