Inspiration

I work as a venture partner/operating partner for some of the brightest minds in technology innovation. While I am very grateful for the opportunity my company has with the work being supplied to us, I am an entrepreneur at heart. My vantage point allows me to see existing cohorts among early stage entrepreneurs that could easily be fixed with a baseline measure for their strategy. In boy scouts the first piece of technology we held was a compass; entrepreneurs need a compass for business operations. We built one!

What it does

Provides a canvas for creative problem solving that ultimately becomes your standard operating procedure for the execution of your strategy and the important goals/tasks that need to be reached/completed.

How I built it

4K hours of research across NYC, Menlo, Toronto, Chicago, Atlanta, DC, Richmond, Dallas, Charlotte resulted in a clear and concise need for a tool to address the latent need around developing strategy. There is over 2million LLC's incorporated each year, and 80% of those will fail within the first 5 years of operations. We looked at Salesforce, and a few other platforms for building a tech enabled service to help with strategy. We chose React-Native because we believe the connected ecosystem of Facebook will present the lowest cost of acquisition. We pretty much want every entrepreneur to use our "backcasting" financial model on our strategy platform and it needs to be cheap. We have billed 4K hours of work into early stage companies, we know what the strike price is for situational fluency.

Challenges I ran into

The VC firms I work for thought I was crazy. The market serves as a self weeding garden and forces those entrepreneurs that are less prepared for success in the early days, into debt and out of business. So I took the money they paid me to execute growth strategy and built the app myself. That sucked and it was a slow process as no one has tried to take strategy and turn it into something easy to do.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We shipped the app today to IOS and Android!

What I learned

I will never give up on helping entrepreneurs that risk friends and family money.
