Inspiration

Studies show that approximately 80%–95% of college students engage in procrastination to some degree, approximately 70% consider themselves to be procrastinators, and approximately 50% say that they procrastinate in a consistent and problematic manner. There are many problems caused by procrastination including demotivation and disillusionment with work. This can lead to depression and even becoming jobless, in extreme cases. In fact, for about one in five adults, procrastination is a real, long-lasting problem. Productify’s mission is to help stop unproductivity!

What It Does

To begin, it has a ‘Calendar’ page where you can see the current date, you can click on a certain date and another date to see the difference in days and you can explore previous and future months. Furthermore, it has a ‘To-Do List’ page where you can add tasks, remove them and mark them as completed. Moreover, there is also a ‘Productive Apps’ page. Here there are multiple apps or websites that you can get to with ease. Additionally, there is a navigation and home page with Google Sign-In authentication. Ultimately, this website is to help stop unproductivity by planning using the calendar, adding all your tasks into the to-do list and having a list of all your productivity apps in one place so that you don’t get distracted.

How I Built It

It was built using an online IDE called Replit.com and the Languages that were used were HTML, Java Script, and Cascading Style Sheets. Additionally, I used Google Firebase to create the Google Sign-In as well as font awesome for the icons on the 'Productive Apps' page.

Challenges I Ran Into

As this was my first time using Google Firebase, I ran into many problems. It took me a really long time to figure out how to make the Google Sign-In work. Working on the pages took a long period of time, especially the 'Calendar' page and figuring out how to make the calendar select different dates. There was also a limited amount of time to do everything which made things harder. Regardless, I am really proud of the final product.

Accomplishments That I’m Proud Of

I am very proud of the Google Sign-In authentication, and the features on the 'Calendar' and 'To-Do List' page.

What I Learned

I learned how to use Google Firebase to create a Google Sign-In, how to add icons and how to use JavaScript to add features like selection, adding and removing.

What's Next For Carbon Impact

Next, I would like to also add a timer to the ‘To-Do List’ page and a calculation of the dates selected on the calendar page.
