Real-Time Social Media Ranking for Products

Backend

ProductBuzz aggregates products from Producthunt.com (PH) and scans Twitter (other social networks are going to be added later) for mentions of these products. (Using Twitter's streaming API.)

Frontend

The products on ProductBuzz.co can be sorted by:

1. "Buzz" (total number social-media mentions since first appearing on PH)
2. "Heat" (number of social-media mentions per hour since first appearing on PH)
3. "Votes" (number of votes on PH)

Products update in "real-time" (the database is queried every 30sec). For each product the 10 latest tweets about that product can be viewed. (Updated in real-time.) ProductBuzz.co is fully responsive and works in all modern browsers. (Yes, even IE. (Well, IE9+))

Plans

1. Add more social-media services. (Facebook is next on the list.)
2. Add more product-sources (HackerNews is next on the list.)
3. Create a comprehensive API to allow developers to build apps on top of the ProductBuzz database. (Possible monetization.)

Conclusion

All in all ProductBuzz allows the user to quickly see which products have gained & are gaining the most traction on social media.
