Inspiration

My goal was to create an app that not only educates people about the invention process, but also empowers them to real-world hardware solution.

What it does

Product Invention Lab guides you through the engineering design process with AWS PartyRock's AI-driven platform. It assists you in defining community-related problems, brainstorming innovative solutions, and prototyping you hardware inventions, facilitating the journey from concept to reality.

How we built it

I developed this set of apps using AWS PartyRock, I also created a landing page on my website.

Challenges we ran into

I wanted to focus on user-friendly interface that didn't overwhelm someone. That's why I decided to split this app into three parts. I also wanted to strike a balance between adding some educational content without being too wordy & make the three steps in the process interconnect well with each other.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I help organize a weekly Robotics meetup in Houston (houstonroboticsgroup.com) - I was able to test the concept with some of the members and got a lot of positive feedback! I've used the tool to help my own design process and have been impressed with the results generated by the PartyRock's LLM tool.

What we learned

I learned the importance of user feedback in shaping a tool that truly meets the needs of its audience. The process also deepened our understanding of the potential for AI to revolutionize education and community development.

What's next for Product Invention Lab

I began volunteering with a non-profit ProjectInvent.org - helping middle/high school students prototyping hardware inventions. I'd like to use this in my volunteering effort with student teams to further improve this app. I'm also considering making another section that can help them with the demo & pitch day and/or a section geared toward other educators/volunteers interested in using this tool to provide mentorship to student teams.

I'm excited to see how others might remix the app!
