Inspiration
Access to essential medicines is often harder than it should be. People waste time visiting multiple pharmacies or calling around just to find out if a medication is in stock.
We wanted to simplify this urgent and stressful process by creating a fast, intuitive way to find and reserve medicines nearby — especially for situations where time matters.
What it does
MediReserve is a streamlined web application that allows users to quickly search for medicines and reserve them at nearby pharmacies.
Users can:
- Search medicines by name or category
- View nearby pharmacies with real-time (simulated) availability
- Compare price and stock status
- Instantly reserve a medicine for pickup
- Receive a confirmation with pickup details and reservation ID
- Access their reservation history in a simple user profile
The app also suggests alternative medicines when the desired one is unavailable, reducing friction in urgent situations.
How we built it
We focused on building a realistic MVP with a strong product feel rather than overengineering.
- Designed a clean, modern UI using Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui
- Created a mock data layer simulating pharmacies, inventory, and availability
- Implemented a smart search system with alternative suggestions
- Built a simple and fast reservation flow with confirmation logic
- Used lightweight state management to persist user data and reservations
- Optimized for mobile-first usage with responsive layouts and touch-friendly UI
Everything was built to be demo-ready, fast, and intuitive.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was making the app feel realistic without a real backend.
We had to:
- Simulate real-time medicine availability convincingly
- Design a search experience that feels intelligent
- Keep the reservation flow extremely simple while still useful
Balancing simplicity and functionality within hackathon constraints was a key difficulty.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Creating a product that feels like a real healthcare startup
- Designing an intuitive UX that works well under urgency
- Implementing a smooth reservation flow with minimal steps
- Adding smart features like alternative medicine suggestions
- Delivering a polished, mobile-friendly interface
What we learned
- A strong MVP is more about user experience than complex architecture
- Simulated data can still create a convincing and valuable demo
- Clear user flows matter more than feature quantity in early-stage products
- Accessibility and simplicity are critical in healthcare-related apps
What's next for MediReserve
We see MediReserve evolving into a полноценный healthcare tool.
Next steps include:
- Adding a real-time pharmacy integration API
- Implementing an interactive map view for nearby pharmacies
- Adding notifications and reminders for reservations
- Supporting digital prescription uploads
- Expanding to include delivery options
Our goal is to turn MediReserve into a reliable bridge between patients and pharmacies.
