Inspiration

Inspired by the Hackathon theme, ‘Merge’, as well as the collaborative component in this hackathon, and initially delegating tasks. We decided to create a website that does this to ensure deadlines are met, the final product everyone’s strengths to create the best products.

What it does

Procrastinauction is a merge between tasks divisions and auctions with a twist, bidding higher on tasks that you do not want to complete, with tasks being assigned to the lowest bidder.

How we built it

Web-based front end built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Python backend to handle auctions, bidding, and task logic.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges that we faced were learning new things in a limited timeframe, particularly the dilemma of using local or databases to record user names and tasks.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our determination, teamwork and ability to communicate effectively to create our successful product, with this being every member’s first hackathon.

What we learned

From this project, some of the technical skills that we learnt from this project were how to use figma, using javascript to support frontend and backend development and incorporating sounds in websites. As a team, we learnt how to pace ourselves within the limited timeframe of 36 hours to maintain a positive work environment.

What's next for procrastinauction

In the future, we plan to deploy Procrastinauction as a live website that can be accessed across different devices. With scalable databases and cloud hosting, the platform will support more users and tasks reliably. Planned features include user profiles with progress tracking and assigned responsibilities. We could also integrate with calendars, to-do lists, and messaging apps to provide a smooth, practical experience for individuals, households, and teams alike.
