Inspiration

One of the primary reason for stress is never ending to do list and most of the times its due to procrastination. Many students like me keep tasks/assignments pending till deadline and then became anxious at last moment. Procrastination is leading cause of mental stress and it affects our overall growth. So in this application we are providing solution to the same issue

What it does

Our Application basically allows user to keep some money at stake and if he/she doesn't complete it the money will be credited to NGO. Even when people understand the affects of delaying the work they don't get instant punishment for not doing work and get themselves involved in activities which give short time satisfaction like watching cat videos, playing games, scrolling insta.

Let's take example of a person going to gym. Initially people are enthusiastic to exercise to get proper shape but as time goes on people start skipping sessions. There is no repercussions if we don't attend gym (yes we know long term effects but still). So its very common for people to procrastinate. Using our application we are planning to force user to complete certain task by asking them to keep some money at stake. The user can deposit some amount of money in our app. It doesn't matter how much money is being deposited, person can put $1 or $1000 at stake. Now if person doesn't goes to gym, the gym trainer will mark absent on the app. If marked absent the money will be deducted and will be credited to some NGOs of the user's choice. Alternatively if user completes task on time then he/she will get money back into their account. Additionally we can even tie up with banks and give interest amount to the user.

How we built it

I have made this as an mobile app. The frontend part in handled by flutter, for backend I am using Flask and then for database I am using mongodb. The payment gateway is not added yet but we are planning to use Paypal sandbox to try it out

What's next for Procrastinatscape

We are planning to tie up with banks so that we can give interest amount to users for time the money is saved so they would be interested to deposit money into this and complete tasks on time. Interests will act as an reward to complete the task.
