Inspiration
I am someone who has frequently procrastinated in the past. I also always wanted to learn how to make a Chrome extension. I've decided that I would act on both of these interests and make an anti-procrastination web extension.
What it does
It prevents the user from procrastinating by changing the DOM contents of tabs that the user procrastinates on, making the tabs virtually useless and impossible to procrastinate with.
How we built it
It was built using plain Javascript, CSS, HTML, and Chrome API tools.
Challenges we ran into
I had never made an extension before, so I had to learn how to use specific tools like a manifest.json file, and especially the Chome API tools, that adhered to specific rules.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I created this in a relatively short amount of time, which I am very proud of. I am also proud of my commitment to this project during the time that I developed it.
What we learned
I developed some hard skills such as programming, but also developed skills such as marketing and product management.
What's next for Procrastination Preventer
I have an amazing feature in mind where I will implement a Pomodoro timer that will allow the user to take a break from the extension's restrictions for a short time.
