Inspiration

When doing projects, we sometimes encountered times where we realise that the problem is bigger than we thought. So we needed to step back to see how the problems are connected to each other, and how it has been blocking a few of our design solutions. When identifying these problems it's important to include all of the stakeholders that have interest in the product. Which includes: design team, product managers, engineers, business team and marketing.

It's also important that on ideation sessions, the team can have a general idea on how certain solutions may impact existing systems that may lead to either a positive outcome or a risky one.

What it does

Our template will help to facilitate the team in identifying possible problems they may have. It can help them to agree and be aligned on problems and prioritise them based on its severity and importance.

The template then offers and guides users on ideating solutions, where the template helps the team to identify impacts of solutions made for the existing problem agreed.

How we built it

We prototyped it by looking back to our past projects, and how we had done them. We identified all of the obstacles we faced throughout the project and try to think on what we could have done better.

Challenges we ran into

We wanted this template to be modular enough so that it's easily adjusted and be used for different type of projects. We also wanted the template to be self-explanatory, where it contains triggers that can properly help and guide the users without us needing to be there. It was quite difficult to explain the steps as simple as possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

After several prototypes, we were happy that we have come up with something that make sense, and we would definitely use it for our own upcoming projects in our team.

What we learned

It was quite difficult to get around confluence's whiteboard as it is something that we weren't really familiar with in exploring. But at the same time, we think this is a good tool to have since we create most of our product specifications in confluence.
