Dealing with the hassle of tailoring resumes and crafting cover letters across online tools can be overwhelming. Recognising job applicants' challenges, the idea of creating a comprehensive solution emerged. Inspired by the difficulties in the job application process, we envisioned a tool that streamlines every step. Our solution allows applicants to customise resumes for specific job descriptions, generate tailored cover letters, and receive answers to common questions—all in one place. Additionally, we've integrated a user-friendly ChatBot for seamless interaction. This tool is born from the desire to simplify and enhance the job application experience.

How we built it

Our application's development involved using PartyRock, an interactive and shareable generative AI app-building tool. We took a hands-on approach to creating specific functionalities by designing individual widgets within the PartyRock framework. These widgets were essential components, each serving a distinct purpose in our application.

Our decision to use PartyRock was fueled by its fun and intuitive nature, making it an ideal choice for our project. As a generative AI app-building tool, PartyRock offered pre-trained models that could be harnessed for various tasks. We seamlessly integrated these models into our widgets to leverage their generative capabilities.

We had to provide task-specific prompts to each widget to tailor the application to our needs. This step was crucial for instructing the generative models on effectively interpreting and responding to the user input. Users are prompted to input their Resume and Job Description into the designated widgets, triggering the tool to generate accurate and customised answers based on the provided prompts.

Our approach involved a creative and strategic use of PartyRock's capabilities. We learned to navigate the tool, understand its features, and effectively utilise pre-trained generative models to build a user-friendly and efficient application that meets the unique demands of job applicants.

Challenges we ran into

What's next for JobApplyPal

We strive to improve the JobApplyPal tool by creating a dedicated website highlighting its current capabilities. In addition to the existing features, we plan to provide users with a refined resume after generating their ATS score. Our goals involve introducing a tracking feature for monitoring submitted applications and integrating a reminder system for interviews and screening tests to assist candidates throughout the job application process.
