Inspiration
As this hackathon’s challenge is to make life a game, I thought of ways in which I could make studying more fun. I already know that being mindful is one of the most important parts of studying. As a result, I searched for a way to improve someone’s overall mindfulness.
What it does
ProactionPanda gives you a pet Panda to take care of. You are able to make it happy by doing "Mindfulness Checks". This game employs the use of Tamagotchi principles, keeping you interested in the game.
How I built it
In order to build my app, I used AWS Cognito for a reliable login flow, Flutter for a material-based front-end, and MongoDB to create a really quick backend.
Challenges we ran into
I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to create a database from this project, as went through many errors among all the different databases I tried to use.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
Since this is the first hackathon I have actually been a part of, I learned a lot and I was able to build my first backend as well.
What I learned
Overall, the hackathon was a great experience. I learned that I should probably have kept at creating one database instead of trying to create many different kinds of databases.
What's next for ProactionPanda
Next up, I plan to animate the Panda to give a more realistic connection to the user. Furthermore, I plan on using AI to auto-generate mindfulness questions of all different kinds. Architecturally, I plan on moving to a javascript background and using AWS ECR and Docker to automate the backend system.
