Prixify

Inspiration

We wanted to find a way to help people save money whenever they go shopping and be aware of the impacts they make when they drive their vehicles.

Prixify calculates the total price when you shop for items and shows you the carbon emissions from your journey.

We used the Google Maps API and JavaScript with code.org.

No prior knowledge of JavaScript or APIs.

We stayed up all night and finished our product!!!

We learned how to implement a Google Maps API and use the distance between 2 locations and how to build an app using JavaScript.

Implement interactive google maps, different modes of transportation, and price detection

I worked on the back end, made formulas, picked colors for the app, helped code in JavaScript, and helped debug the code.

Julie Mah
I worked on the front end and back end, I mainly wrote the code for the elements the user interacts with. While it was not my first time using this tool, I learned how to incorporate API extracted information into code and to work with user-inputted information. I read documentation and implemented it for more efficient calculations, and collaborated with Julie on creating functions to display data. I created and organized the design format and screen looks and debugged extensively.

Radhika Kulkarni
I mainly worked on the back-end, utilizing JavaScript and implementing Google Cloud's Distance Matrix API. I learned how to perform string operations on user input to retrieve URL string requests. and how to parse json output to extract data. With no previous experience in either JavaScript or APIs, it was challenging at first but I had fun gaining new skills during this Hackathon!
